How to find the an IP address

An IP address is a unique number, akin to a telephone number, used by machines (usually computers) to refer to each other when sending information through the Internet using the Internet Protocol. This allows machines passing the information onwards on behalf of the sender to know where to send it next, and for the machine receiving the information to know that it is the intended destination.

Here are some ways to find an IP address:

 Directly connect to the target (send/receive a file, or connect to talk over the computer phone) on MSN, AIM or any other chat server that allows direct connections. While the direct connection is established, go to DOS ("Start - Run - cmd" or "Start - Programs - Accessories - Command Prompt") and type:
netstat -n

Look in Foreign address, look for an IP that is connected to you on this ports 6891-6900

 Get the target to send you an e-mail. Make sure your header options are on full (advanced):

Hotmail: "Options - Mail Display Settings" and check the box Advanced next to "Message Headings"

Yahoo: "Mail Options - General Preferences"

Check box "Show all headers on incoming messages" next to the "Headers:" category.

Their IP will be listed in the headers of the e-mail.

 If you and the target are chatting on IRC, type: "/dns username"

 IM them this message over a chat:
http://127.0.0.1 (replace the 127.0.0.1 with your IP)
or
ftp://yourip
And intrigue them to click on it, one good way of getting them to click it is to tell the perverts it's a great free porn site! lol
Make sure you have a firewall set up so that any connections made will be logged, so when they click it you're firewall will tell you of the connection attempt and will log their IP.

 Set up a free webserver and get an IP logger of some sort and have them enter your site.

Theres a lot ways to get an IP this is just few of the examples. If you are depended on Yahoo Messenger. The port to look out for is 5101. Chat clients differ on the service port they use depending on what protocol they are running on.
